"He's not standing up": Protesters want Hakeem Jeffries to lead an aggressive opposition to Trump

Protesters gathered outside Rep. Hakeem Jeffries' Brooklyn office on Thursday .

They called on the minority leader to put up more forceful opposition to the administration of President Donald Trump and his billionaire benefactor, Elon Musk .

One protester said he was there to let Jeffries know his “leadership of the opposition has been weak”.

A recent Quinnipiac survey found that the approval of congressional Democrats among Democratic voters was underwater.

A recent poll found that 49% of Democratic respondents disapproving of how their performance has been.

A local environmental activist said the minority leader was “not standing up with the level of outrage that people meant to see, that Democrats want to see”.
