D.C. prosecutor resigns over order to open criminal investigation into Biden-era climate contracts

Denise Cheung , head of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington , D.C. , resigned on Tuesday over an order to open a criminal investigation into Biden -era climate-related contracts.

The investigation cited by Cheung is believed to be part of an effort by the Environmental Protection Agency to claw back at least $20 billion -worth of green energy contracts issued in the final weeks of the Biden administration.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin has characterized the funds as waste that was directed to eight “pass throughs” that were then going to direct the money toward other pass through groups.
