David C. Geary is a Curators’ Distinguished Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences and the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program at the University of Missouri .
He co-authored a Quillette article with Lewis G. Halsey entitled “ The Great Divergence’s” Geary explains why he believes evolved differences between the sexes have been growing in Western societies.
In the past, there were very few women in the workforce, so it wasn't as easy to see which jobs women gravitated towards because few of them were working and many professions were barred to women.
But now there isn’t a bar, so we can actually get a more honest sense of the relative preferences.
Women who are interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are much more likely to go into medicine now.
