Many people celebrated his death on social media and establishment media outlets as well from people who are not anonymous “posters” online.

Peter Bergen : It does not matter whether Thompson was guilty of the crimes and injustices that he is accused of perpetrating.

He says the principles espoused to justify Thompson being killed would quickly result in the complete collapse of the social order.

The costs of exacting mob judgment on Thompson far outweigh the supposed benefits, writes Zachary Yost .
