Mark Zuckerberg puts Republican in charge of policy as he seeks to make nice with Trump

Mark Zuckerberg is taking over at the top of Meta , the social media company he controls.

Joel Kaplan , a Meta veteran tied to influential GOP circles, will replace Nick Clegg , the UK 's former UK deputy prime minister.

Kaplan worked in the Bush administration and has acted as Meta 's link to Republican politicians.
