Amazon’s new policy on third-party sellers will test its theory that sellers can’t be pushed off the platform

The working theory has been that Amazon cannot possibly push its sellers so far that it sends them off the platform.

Amazon has for a decade engaged in a slow squeeze of its third party sellers.

Sellers are reportedly apoplectic about the refund policy change, and concerned about handing over the nuts and bolts of their businesses to Amazon .

Amazon has not yet responded to a request for comment, but a spokesperson said seller data would not be shared with anyone.

Amazon is still the point of entry for most online sales; it had been nearly impossible for startups to find an audience.
