Peanut, the squirrel seized from a New York home and euthanized, tested negative for rabies, county official says

Peanut the squirrel and his pal Fred the Raccoon were euthanized in upstate New York on October 30 .

A county official said Tuesday that the rabies test for both animals came back "negative" after they were seized from their guardian Mark Longo ’s home.

Longo described the raid as a drug dealer-type raid at his home, as previously reported.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation said they had received numerous calls about the animals living in the house.
