The president invoked a rarely used 1798 law that gives a president immense powers to arrest and deport noncitizens in a time of war.
Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to justify deporting more than 130 Venezuelan men, some of them gang members.
The men were herded into a maximum security mega prison in El Salvador , where officials quickly made a show of the new inmates having their heads shaved, then standing shoulder to shoulder in cells.
Immigration authorities use a series of “gang identifiers” to help them spot members of Tren de Aragua .
