Doctor Behind Award-Winning Parkinson’s Research Among Scientists Purged From NIH

84% Informative
At least 10 principal investigators who were leading and directing medical research at the National Institutes of Health have been fired.
Among them is Dr. Richard Youle , a leading researcher in the field of neurodegenerative disorders previously awarded the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences for his groundbreaking research identifying mechanisms behind Parkinson’s disease.
NIH has approximately 1,200 PIs across its 27 centers and institutes.
Senators Bill Cassidy , a Republican from Louisiana , and Bernie Sanders , an independent from Vermont , sent a letter to Kennedy inviting him to an April 10 Senate meeting on the reorganization.
Kennedy committed to providing quarterly updates to the HELP committee, which Cassidy chairs.
“This will be a good opportunity for him to set the record straight,” Cassidy said.
