From refugee to community builder, how Gar Gar is reimagining Forest Lawn

67% Informative
Forest Lawn , Calgary 's Forest Lawn neighbourhood, is undergoing a transformation.
Community advocate Gar Gar is determined to make Forest Lawn a place people are proud to call home.
Growing up in the neighbourhood, Gar was a refugee before he took his first breath.
Gar says a lot of newcomer families live in Forest Lawn when they first come to Calgary but many end up moving to other parts of Calgary .
The YYC Kids Ride bike drive has helped deliver bikes to more than 5,000 at-risk children and youth from low-income families.
The project benefits families in Calgary who are “focused on keeping the lights on” and for whom “having bikes is the last necessity,” Gar says.
