Stentor is a trumpet-shaped, single-celled organism that can grow up to 2 mm long.
Two neighboring Stentors in a colony can double the flow rate of water into their mouths, as compared to their individual capacity.
Scientists think their Stentor model precedes other models of early multicellularity.
