Experts believe Trump could be targeting Canada because of its resources, including its minerals and water.

B.C. is currently working with the federal government to renegotiate the Columbia River Treaty .

Canada holds 20 per cent of the world’s fresh water reserves and getting greater access to that was a priority of the first Trump administration.

Dix says any threat to the integrity of B.C. or Canada must face a strong response.

The problem is that U.S. demands for fresh water will only grow as droughts worsen across the country.
