Disability Rights Oregon files lawsuit to halt city of Grants Pass from closing one of two sanctioned homeless camps.

City Council has required homeless people to stay at two sanctioned camps since August .

In January , the council voted to close the larger of the two sites, known as the J Street site.

At the same time, the smaller remaining camp on Seventh Street was restricted to overnight camping only.

Council member Dwayne Yunker cited the city’s “win” in the Supreme Court case as he pressed ahead with the plan.

The lawsuit asks a judge to issue a temporary restraining order to prevent the closing of the bigger encampment.

Disability Rights Oregon says it's "physically impossible to shove 300 people into this space" There are an estimated 300 to 400 people camping in Grants Pass .
