Parks Canada says it is working with all levels of government to get housing in place as quickly as possible.
Alberta government has promised to deliver 250 modular units by 2025 to help house Jasper residents displaced by last summer’s wildfire.
Over 600 families have applied for interim housing, according to the Municipality of Jasper.
Premier Smith has since sent a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to draw attention to the issues facing Jasper .
Nixon noted how “the province’s hands are tied” since Jasper was in a national park outside of provincial jurisdiction.
Jasper Mayor Richard Ireland said he and the municipality remained fully committed to collaborating with the provincial and federal governments to address these challenges.
