•Calgary temperatures to drop drastically by the weekend

Environment Canada is expecting temperatures to plunge by around 30 degrees by the weekend .
The city has been experiencing a prolonged period of above-average temperatures due to south and westerly winds, and a generally warmer air mass in the region.
Starting on Thursday , a new weather system will come through the province, driving down temperatures.
The Weather Network warns the incoming polar vortex will be “ one of the most notable and widespread Arctic outbreaks that we have seen across North America since 2014 ”.
