•Cambridge study aims to find out if dogs and their owners are on same wavelength
81% Informative
Researchers at the University of Cambridge have been experimenting with brainwaves of pet dogs to see if their brainwaves synchronise with those of their owners when the pair interact.
Researchers say such synchronisation would suggest people and pet are paying attention to the same things, and in certain circumstances interpreting moments in a similar way.
Experts may be able to use the approach to predict which individuals would gain most from therapy animals.
Dr Colleen Dell of the University of Saskatchewan said an important aspect was that it accounted for the experiences of the dog.
But, Dell cautioned, the work is a one -time study, examining very specific regions of the brain.
