A B.C. program that provides interest-free loans and grants to low- and moderate-income households has saved thousands of British Columbians from going homeless, according to a recent report.
The report estimates that the $5.5 million spent on loans, grants and administrative costs in 2023-24 will lead to savings for renters and the government over the next three years .
More than half of the estimated savings — $16.1 million — will benefit renters facing costs from rental increases, moving and storage.
