•Dale McFee talks commission, council and critics in final year-end interview as Edmonton police chief
69% Informative
Dale McFee announced in November he would step down as chief of the Edmonton Police Service .
McFee says crime statistics are down “almost across the board,” including a 46 per cent year-to-year decline in shootings.
He and city council were frequently at odds over spending, audits, and police responses to contentious incidents.
He was accused of being overly cozy with the United Conservative Party provincial government, which ultimately offered him the job.
McFee: "I don't get how anybody in any type of elected position can always blame somebody else and not look in a mirror. I take that personally. I don’t start blaming anybody else until I look at my own mirror” McFee ’s time as chief has coincided with growing tension between the police commission, council and the provincial government.
