Calgary 's Green Line project has gone from full steam ahead to having its provincial funding pulled.
The province revealed its elevated downtown alignment on Dec. 13 and gave the city until early January to make a decision on the line.
Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek has said there isn’t enough time for council to decide whether it supports the Alberta government’s proposal.
AECOM 's plan includes 12 stations and 17.2 kilometres of track and removes a previously planned station in Eau Claire .
By not tunneling, the province has claimed it would save more than $1 billion , while extending the line further south.
The city voted on an $850-million wind-down of work on the Green Line , making for $2.2 billion in sunk costs.
The province said it was still committed to the project, but only if line remained at-grade or elevated.
