Renard Johnson will be sworn in as mayor of El Paso on Jan. 6 , almost a year after he announced his candidacy.
Johnson campaigned on shaking up the status quo that he said had left El Paso adrift.
Johnson : "My leadership style is one of empowerment. I like to empower people to make decisions".
