Tecumseh councillors learned zoning rules would allow the town to limit four -unit builds to empty greenspace.
Blanket approval of such residential builds was seen as a requirement to secure grants through a federal initiative designed to address the housing crisis.
Windsor lost out on $30 million over its objection to a blanket fourplex allowance.
The federal government said no to the same housing density requirement earlier this year .
The plan committed to adding 2,135 housing units on top of the 1,765 units Windsor expected to build over the next three years .
It also called for multi-unit builds of multiple storeys across almost 1,000 acres of undeveloped land to the south.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said his government was “really pleased” to sign a HAF agreement with Tecumseh .
