•Ex-officer recounts frustration over failure to investigate alleged police misconduct
69% Informative
Paul McCorquindale was a coordinator with the unit dealing with public complaints against police.
He said he tried to push Calgary police to probe an incident where Godfred Addai-Nyameke said he was beaten by officers and then dumped in the downtown East Village in late 2013 .
He says he ran up against resentment from investigators after insisting there could be ways of probing the trio of officers’ actions even though the time limit had expired.
The LERB hearings are meant to determine whether the CPS ’s handling of the case complied with the Police Act and the Police Service Regulation .
The inquiry, which is scheduled to run for 10 days , continues into its fourth day on Thursday .
On Tuesday , McCorquindale 's then-coworker Denise Seher told the inquiry she also thought the officers involved in dropping Addai-Nyamekye downtown should be investigated.
