Amazon ’s dystopian superhero satire “ The Boys ” has often felt like a cautionary tale, a not-so-thinly veiled rumination on the political and media climate that laid the groundwork for Trump .

The cynicism at the heart of the series is that if you can play the hero convincingly enough, it's possible to get away with all sorts of terrible behavior.

With “ Handmaid’s Tale ” due to end next year and “The Boys’ ” climax to follow, neither of these programs will continue long into a Trump second term.
