HBO ’s new series based on Dune: Prophecy is based on Frank Herbert's final Dune novel.

The series is set just over 10,000 years before Paul Atreides ’ birth.

The first season takes a couple of episodes to really hit its stride, once it does.

The show is at its most visually stunning (and disturbing) in a number of scenes that unpack some of what it means for the Bene Gesserit to gain access to their Other Memories.

Even though Prophecy sharpens Sisterhood of Dune’s story into a much stronger drama, the show still feels like supplementary reading that might not appeal if you aren't deeply invested in the larger narrative.
