JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon offers a tariff tip as Trump haunts Apec CEO Summit.
Dimon: Tariff threats will draw people to the negotiation table, part of a Trump -backed strategy of creating options.
Vietnam President Luong Cuong warned in keynote address that “isolationists, protectionism and trade wars lead only to recessions, conflict and poverty”.
Outgoing US trade representative Katherine Tai echoed some of those ideas in a Bloomberg interview.
Tai said targeted tariffs are necessary to guard against China deluging the US with imports such as cars, clean energy and semiconductors.
But she cautioned against the use of blanket duties such as those proposed by Trump .
