Calgary -based electricity company TransAlta Corp. has agreed to sell some of the generating businesses it planned to acquire from Heartland Generation Ltd. The deal will allow the acquisition of Heartland to go forward, although the value of the sale will be diminished by about $80 million to reflect the divestitures.
The original deal was pegged at $658 million , but the new deal is valued at $542 million , including the assumption of $232 million in debt.
