Money raised from selling off council houses has not gone far towards building new ones.

1.3 million people are on waiting lists for social housing in England .

Labour deputy prime minister Angela Rayner has said she may impose restrictions on new builds.

In future councils will be able to use all that money from private developers into projects.

The Local Government Association ( LGA ) says there is a "serious housing shortage in this country" Labour has said the discount will be reduced to between Â16,000 and Â38,000 , depending on the location.
