Currently, elementary and middle school students must have their phones silenced and stored away for the entire school day .
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin issued Executive Order 33 , mandating that the Virginia Department of Education develop recommendations for public school districts to enforce cellphone-free policies.
The Prince William County School Board will have their first reading and discussion of the policy on November 19 .
