Ed Davey: Why I’m not backing assisted dying

58% Informative

Sir Ed Davey was nine when his mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and 12 when they found secondary breast cancer in her bones.

I spent the next three years caring for her as she battled that horrible disease.

Caring for mum became my life. I know there are many people with similar experiences who do support assisted dying.

But I fear some terminally ill people will feel they have no choice but to end their lives prematurely, whether to avoid being a burden or to escape inadequate palliative care at the end.
