The Vaunde Globe , the Everest of mares, is a solo around the world, a trip with no assistance.

A record 40 skippers are taking part in the race this year , six women, 11 nationalities.

It is a three month race, a very a gruelling race it has to be said, because around one out of two competitors probably won't finish.
