Heretic is out this week and in the lead-up to release, io9 spoke with the co-writers of the film.

Bryan Woods and Bryan Beck have known each other since they were 11 years old .

The pair were inspired by the death of their father, who died unexpectedly last month .

Woods: "We just love to investigate the world at large, I think, together. The debates we have are more creative debates. I think we try to look at the outside world".

Beck and Woods wrote A Quiet Place, which is still going strong.

Heretic opens on Friday .

They hope to see an international movie in the movie's universe, not necessarily English language-based.
