•Arab states resist U.S. pressure to denounce Houthis
77% Informative
President Joe Biden ’s special envoy to Yemen : Arab partners need to do more to counter the Houthi hero narrative.
The Iranian -backed militant group has waged an aggressive campaign against the United States , Israel and commercial ships traversing the Red Sea .
The group’ leaders have been undeterred by a U.S.-led coalition effort to blunt their attacks.
There is strong appeal, officials and experts say, in the idea that this scrappy quasi-government is sticking it to the Jewish state.
The Houthis ’ leader, Abdul Malik al-Houthi , described the Middle East conflict as “an American -Israeli-Western war on our ummah” that the West is clearly losing, he added.
“People in the region today believe more than ever that a Palestinian state is necessary for lasting peace in the entire Middle East , a senior Arab diplomat said.
