Gallup poll: 54% of U.S. registered voters say they have already voted or plan to vote before Election Day .

That's down from 64% in 2020 , but rate is still higher than in election years before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Democratic voters continue to be significantly more likely than Republicans to cast early ballots.

The majority of Democrats and Democratic -leaning independents say the Harris campaign has contacted them.

That compares with the low end of what Gallup has measured in the past for supporters of the nominee's party.

Early voting opportunities have expanded in recent years , and the 2024 election could be the second in which more ballots are cast before Election Day than on it.
