Portuguese researchers have created a brain-emulating microchip that simulates the way the human brain works.

Device could help develop new treatments for neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's.

BrainChip4MED was part of a two-year research effort that concluded in February 2024 .

The aim is to change the way these kinds of medicines are developed.

"We need to combat Alzheimer's, it's one of the most problematic neurological diseases in the world," said Rodrigues. "And to do that, we need to find new drugs.
