In the late-2000s , he was an Army captain embedded with the Iraqi military during some of the country’s earliest democratically run elections.

Scott has had to deal with politically motivated actors spreading misleading information about voting procedures and conspiracy-slinging citizens.

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold was the intended recipient of a package with an unknown powder.

She said the package was in addition to more than 1,000 threats she has received since September .

The FBI is investigating the package's origins.

Since 2020 , she has made available at least $5 million in grant money for more physical security at election sites.

Center for Safe and Secure Elections (CSSE) was formed in response to threats against election officials.

CSSE is a bipartisan group of cross-partisan groups of election officials, law enforcement, and nonprofits across the political spectrum.
