Gun violence still a big issue despite flurry of election topics, advocates say.
"Gun violence is still one of the most important issues facing our country," one advocate says.
At least 134 people were killed in 148 mass shootings across the United States , according to the Gun Violence Archive .
In an ABC News / Washington Post /Ipsos poll, gun violence ranked eighth in importance among voters.
Angela Ferrell-Zabala , executive director of Moms Demand Action , says gun violence prevention still resonates with voters nationwide.
She said that young people, who have grown up in the era of school lockdowns and active shooter drills, are particularly energized over the issue of gun violence.
