Vulcan/Film
•Vulcans are the most famous aliens in "Star Trek," but why?
66% Informative
Gene Roddenberry's " Star Trek " creator chose to make Spock a Vulcan instead of a Martian .
In the original 1964 pitch document, Spock was described as " half -Martian" and had red skin, pointed ears and a "curiosity about all things alien" The original version of the series was written out of the original pitch document.
The series' starship is also called the Yorktown, not the Enterprise.
The concept of Martians is regarded as a science-fiction throwback that's associated more with pulpy 20th century sci-fi than its modern descendants.
It's more common to see it depicted as a terraformed colony of spacefaring humans rather than a world home to an indigenous people.
