Two Amazon employees in the retail and warehouse sector said in a lawsuit filed this month that the company restricted their options for work after Amazon .
The lawsuit alleges Amazon required workers at its warehouses and retail stores to sign a noncompete agreement, tucked into its lengthy offer letter, in order to get the job.
Noncompete agreements generally prevent workers from leaving one company for a rival, for a certain period of time, or prohibit workers from doing business with a company’s customer.
Washington banned noncompetes for workers who make less than $100,000 annually in 2020 .
Emery’s firm has sued dozens of employers for violating the salary requirement since it went into effect in January 2023 .
One case against Total Wine & More is headed to the Washington Supreme Court early next year .
The Federal Trade Commission voted to ban the practice in April .
