Deryck Whibley's memoir, Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven and Hell, was published Tuesday .

The frontman for the rock band Sum 41 had kept the details of his relationship with former mentor and ex-manager Greig Nori secret for more than 30 years .

Nori denies the claims and maintains their relationship was consensual.

Whibley says he was starstruck by Nori when he first met Nori in 1997 .

Nori became a father figure, teaching him how to shave, put on a tie and drive, he writes.

He says the relationship eventually became toxic as Nori tried to exert more control over the band.

In a statement to Postmedia, Nori says he did not initiate the relationship, but he says it was consensual.

The band's final album, "Heaven and Hell," will be its final album in 2024 .
