Three steel beams were raised nearly 200 feet ( 61 m) above the ground to crown the building's diagrid structure.

"It is a significant milestone for the science center and for those we serve," said Jeffrey Rudolph , president and CEO of the California Science Center .

The Oschin Air and Space Center building is expected to be completed by next summer .

He previously developed online content for the National Space Society and Apollo 11 moonwalker Buzz Aldrin , helped establish the space tourism company Space Adventures and currently serves on the History Committee of the American Astronautical Society , the advisory committee for The Mars Generation and leadership board of For All Moonkind .
