Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-Atlas) is thought to orbit the sun every 80,000 years or so.
It originated from the Oort cloud, a giant spherical icy shell that surrounds our solar system.
It made a close approach to our sun at the end of last month , travelling at 40mph .
Now, it is set to make its closest approach to Earth , giving stargazers in the UK a good chance of spotting it in the evening.
