An organized effort to stop removal of dead trees from Vancouver ’s Stanley Park has failed.
The park board voted in favour of continuing to remove large trees that have been killed by the hemlock looper moth larvae and are considered a public risk.
An estimated 160,000 trees have died, of which 20,000 are considered large, with a diameter of greater than 20 cm.
About 8,000 of these have already been removed.
