In July 2023 , Fort Worth ISD removed three books from some school libraries.
90 of the 121 titles were ultimately returned to library shelves.
The removal came after the far-right social media account Libs of TikTok posted about the books.
A state law adopted in January 2024 requires school districts to “develop collection assessment and evaluation procedures” and “stipulate the means to weed or update the collection” 90 of the 121 books were returned.
The group is focusing on what the district can do for future library material decisions.
The proposed rules also adopt Texas ’ definition of obscenity.
