Consultant paediatrician Dr John Gibbs , now retired, was working at the Countess of Chester Hospital when Letby began attacking vulnerable babies on the neonatal unit in June 2015 .

He told the Thirlwall Inquiry that relationships between consultants and nurses became "strained" He said parents would now want to know how their children were able to come to harm.

Dr Gibbs said he felt he and his colleagues were "at fault" for not bypassing management.
