Japan 's X-Ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission XRISM launched on September 2023 .

Its first observations captured the structure, motion and temperature of material swirling around a supermassive black hole.

The data could help scientists better understand how the heart of massive stars are distributed through the cosmos.
