•Bipartisan bill would legalize recreational marijuana in Pennsylvania
74% Informative
Pennsylvania lawmakers recently introduced bipartisan legislation that would legalize adult-use Cannabis .
The bill would allow for the taxation and regulation of Cannabis for non-medical purposes by Pennsylvanians who are at least 21 years old .
The legislation also deals with expungements for those with marijuana-related convictions and being able to apply for resentencing or commutation.
Supporters of legalizing Cannabis have pointed toward potentially generating — at the very least — hundreds of millions of dollars in annual tax revenue and thousands of jobs.
The bill is among a number of proposals that have been introduced in both the House and the Senate this legislative session.
Lawmakers differ on how the proceeds will be spent, implementation of criminal justice reform and social equity provisions.
The legislation still faces opposition from many Republicans , which could pose an obstacle in the GOP -controlled Senate .
