UK Export Finance ( UKEF ) considering approving $1.15 billion ( 870 million ) of taxpayer investment in a major liquified natural gas pipeline in Mozambique .
The project was put on hold in 2021 after conflict erupted in the region.
It has been estimated it could produce more than the combined annual greenhouse gas emissions of all 27 EU countries over its lifetime.
