Judge Merchan Had a Surprisingly Good Reason to Delay Trump’s Sentencing

Donald J. Trump’s hush money election interference conviction is perhaps the most surprising.

Trump was convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree back at the end of May .

The People of the State of New York v. Donald Trump , as the case name suggests, was a state case that largely concerned events that took place before Trump became president.

On Friday , a judge delayed the sentencing of Trump v. U.S. Justice Juan Merchan said he had to deal with the complexities of the immunity decision.

Hope Hicks' testimony was one of the most dramatic moments of the trial.

She said she and Trump had a conversation after the Stormy Daniels story eventually became public in 2018 .

Trump is the first president in the history of the country who did not give up ownership of his private business while also serving as president.

I think Judge Merchan will sentence Trump to jail time if the sentencing goes forward.

But I don’t think he will impose the sentence, I think he’ll stay it until Trump can exhaust all his appeals.

The DA made a very strong case for how significant this set of crimes was, that this had the potential to have altered the result of a presidential election.
