Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst is carefully toeing the line between supporting the hostage families demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza war and aligning with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ’s demand for total victory over Hamas .

Ernst, co-chair of the Abraham Accords , has been to Israel and the Middle East more times since October 7 than anyone else in Washington , barring Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the Biden team of ceasefire negotiators.

Ernst: “We’re not talking about Palestinians anymore, you see the Hamas flag being raised over campuses.” Ernst didn’t say what that would look like right now.
