CT mom is national voice against trans athletes in women's sports

Kim Jones of Darien , Connecticut , is a guest of the Connecticut delegation to the Republican National Convention .

She says transgender athletes must be banned from women’s sports.

Jones says she's trying to reframe the issue as one of women's rights, not a culture-war talking point.

Jones, a two -time All-American tennis player and NCAA champion swimmer, co-founded ICONS.

Before puberty, males generally are stronger and faster, with denser bones, greater muscle mass and more cardiovascular capacity.

The American College of Sports Medicine says males produce better results than females at elite levels.

There is evidence that the athletic advantages sparked by testosterone in males is not neutralized by hormone therapy.

In February , some Republican lawmakers held a press conference to urge colleagues to consider legislation that would ban transgender athletes from girls and women’s sports.

House Speaker Matt Ritter , D- Hartford , said that trans athletics is not an issue that will turn an election.

The Human Rights Campaign says the numbers are small, their impact exaggerated by conservative politicians and media.
